I feel like eating bad and drinking wine!

well here is the dreaded post :( I want to eat bad today!!! Ya know us woman can get really cranky ,moody, and have cravings once a month well thats my excuse and I sticking to it! I did start off the day with the famous cucumber juice. I was busy at work so I snacked but didnt eat lunch. I had mixed nuts and a cliff bar. After Isaiah got home he wanted to make home made french fries. He says to me "hey mom can we make some real french fries with fresh potatoes" he knows I can't resist french fries or when we get to cook together with fresh food. He sucked me in! and yes I even helped eat the fries. For dinner I made baked macaroni and cheese. NOTHING is healthy about this very cheesy dish but it sure is good! I may finish the night with a glass of wine and jalapeno poppers lol. Oh boy not such a good day but it is ok. I am going to go read my book"the world's healthiest foods" he also has a website! google worlds healthiest foods and subscribe to the newsletter. There are some really really good recipes and just good info on anything. You type it in the search button and bam! you has nutritional access to everything fruit and veggie!

What I ate today and my favorite shake recipe

Today was another good day! Still not sure about tonight when I pick up Naz from work we will see.
Breakfast- 2 cucumbers 3 stalks of kale 1 lemon and some ice to chill
mid morning snack nut mix (pumkin seed,sunflower seeds, almonds, raisins,cashews,peanuts) i think I am addicted! I used to grab rasinets and soda everyday now i can switch it for nut mix that taste great and is filling and way more nutrition!
another mid morning snack -cliff bar
lunch -whole wheat bread , spicy guacamole, spinach and tomaot sandwich.
noon shake AVOCADO ALMOND MILK SHAKE. I got this recipe from a show called cooking with the Lyon or Lyon in the kitchen. Not really sure but the recipe is
1 AVOCADO
2CUPS VANILLA ALMOND MILK
1/4 CUP OF HONEY
1 TABLESPOON COCAO
ADD SOME ICE AND BLEND!! For those of you who have never had almond milk it is awesome. I am not a milk drinking but LOVE vanilla almond milk
afternoon snack was more nuts
dinner I had whole wheat rotini with ground turkey and fresh uncooked spicy garlic!
tonight Denzel (my oldest son) wanted a quick snack and i sauteed him some kale garlic and onions and he ate it up quick! Isaiah tried it and said I LOVE this green stuff can i have my own plate!! WOW! This is so exciting to me :)Kids excited about something green? And he got upset because it it to late and he has to go to bed and couldn't have KALE am I dreaming? If so don't wake me up lol.
Meal wise everything is good! Still have not exercised yet though :( As of today I am 170lbs goal is 150.

Today was a good healthy day!

Well I have to say today was a very healthy day! I had the cucumber,kale and 1 lemon juice. Went to Hippocrates for lunch. Had mixed nuts for snack. For dinner I made lentil soup (lentils from can)I added half of a red onion and about 5 garlic cloves 2 celery stalks, turmeric seasoning and my new favorite seasoning called liquid aminos by BRAGG. This seasoning is very salty and it is in a spray form. I didnt add any salt to soup at all and just a few sprays of Liquid Aminos and it was salty enough. This seasoning is actually good for you with 16 different amino acids! It has a similar taste to soy sauce but not as strong and definitely better for you! I also made sautéed
red cabbage and bak choy with red onion and garlic. mmmm It was delicious! Denzel even liked it! soup took 15 mins most of the time was chopping stuff and letting it sit for 10 minutes to bring out the best health benefits. Cabbage and bak choy took about 10 mins to cook. So fast healthy and delicious! Lets keep this momentum going!
Tomorrow will be the true test! Nasser and I usually go out to eat and drink wine on wed. WIll I still be able to be good? Maybe 1 glass instead of 4 lol or maybe healthier choice food instead of quesadillas with extra sauce and bacon with a side of fries mmmmm
Some of the things I learned today are
1. Sauerkraut should be eating before a meal to prepare your body for digestion.
2. Always chew your food until it is pretty much liquid! The saliva in our mouth
helps the digestion process and is pretty important. Do some research on reasons why and see that is does make a huge different in your health.
3. Turmeric is a very healthy seasoning and great for anyone with inflammatory issues.
4. Pumpkin seeds contain ALOT of protein! and so do sunflower sprouts!
It felt good eating healthy today! I am pretty proud of us! I think with good planning and having fun learning new recipes I can make this a lifestyle!

Just got back from Hippocrates Health Institute.

All I can say is WOW! It was amazing. I can not wait until the day I can go there!2 weeks is what I would like to do. Total body detox and tons of education to teach you how to live a healthy lifestyle! I feel like at this point in my life I really need something like this! I saw alot of sick people there. Even saw a young child who's doctor gave up on her. I felt sad for them but also feel happy because they are taking charge of there lives and doing things alternatively. I went today to have a tour and to have lunch with a lady who works there and comes to my salon. The lunch was very interesting. Sauerkraut made from apples and cabbage is what we had to eat first. Apparently it prepares your body for digestion. I ate salad with all kinds of different sprouts including sunflower sprouts which has lots of protein. I had some carrots and sweet red peppers that they call dessert lol. The coolest thing was "nut yo mamma's meat loaf"looked like meat loaf but was made of nuts onions and red peppers and not sure what else. Not sure if it was as good as my mamma's meat loaf but it was interesting lol. So far it has been quite the healthy day for me. Lets see whats in store for dinner! I'm thinking spicy black bean burger with red onions jalapeno, banana peppers and cheese mmmm.

Visit to Hippocrates Heath Institute

Today I am really excited! I am going to have lunch at the Hippocrates Health Institute! I have been wanting to go to this place for years! I found it on accident. I am going to have lunch with someone who works there and cant wait to see it! I will post when I get back! I do believe this is what I need!! I just wish there was a way for me to be able to still work. I can not afford to take 3 weeks off work and also be able to afford to go here. I do believe whats ment to be will be. So I am putting out to the universe and hope I get answers!! Wish me luck!

What I have been eating

Starting yesterday what I ate was this: For breakfast I had organic cucumber, kale and lemon juice. For lunch I ate a spicy guacamole tomato and spinach sandwich. Don't laugh it is tasty! I had a pepperoni hot pocket ( my 12 hour day at work had to run home and had such a small amount of time)which I am not proud of. I will be tracking what I eat even if it is bad food. I want to keep this blog real and to show it is not easy. Also to look at other options that I could have done. I could have had a cliff bar to hold me over until i got back to work where I had a salad. But I was just so hungry now lol. So anyways after I got back to work, colored a few peoples hair, I then had time to enjoy my salad! My favorite lettuce is called Living lettuce It is hydroponically grown. I love it because it taste amazing and it is still alive. It is grown in water and harvested and packaged with the roots attached for the freshest lettuce possible. So in my salad I also had cucumbers, tomato, sunflower seeds and some spinach.
For a snack I had a mix of healthy nuts which had almonds, cashews, sunflowers seeds and raisins. It was delicious!
I feels really good to me when I eat like this. I can actually feel a happiness in my heart a warm fuzzy feeling. Don't laugh lol it is true. Thats how I know I am doing the right thing. Just gotta stay on board and dont fall off. I can tell you right now I do not get a warm fuzzy feeling after eating processed food.

I am hoping that the juice will help me with the Vitiligo. As of today I have about 21 spots on my right hand 11 on my left hand 2 on my right toes and 5 small dots on my right foot. Also have 1 under left armpit. I am hoping to find a natural cure for this skin disease. I am told there is no cure but I hope to find that wrong! I also do suffer from acne. I will be drinking cucumber juice daily!

Day at the farmer's market

well Sunday was the day at the farmers market. It felt so good to pick our own food. At first my 10 year old was not excited about putting down video games to go pick fresh strawberries. Little did he know how much fun he would have. I have to say it is was on the the happiest days for me. I felt such a sense of family and what it important. I had a koolaid smile on my face the whole time. It was the last day for strawberry and tomatoes picking end of the season. i was sad but happy at least we got to go. The leafs of the plants where dried up, some people may see this as a negative. I was still happy. We just had to be detectives and search for the brightest sweetest strawberries. We found a bunch. Isaiah was excited and enjoyed every minute of it! He cant wait to go back next year. or maybe end of this year. After a nice day of picking we went home and enjoyed family night. Dads choice this Sunday and we played the game of life. It was fun! Eating fresh picked strawberries while bonding as a family! what more can you ask for :)I am looking forward to healthy lifestyle changes. I think it is so easy to get caught up in the fast paced life from one event to the next and fast food in between. My goal is to slow the family down, appreciate the small things and really bond together and be sensitive to each others needs and wants. So my post will be about family, health, bonding, ideas for family fun. Anything I can share to help others improve there family life!

Reason for whole food health changes

The reason I would like to start a blog is so my family and I can track our progress along the way. Our hope is the have other families give advice and for us to give advice to other families as well. I do believe this is a big journey or self discovery and learning new life style changes. We are both 35 years old and have 2 boys ages 14 and 10. I have always wanted to b healthy. I love whole natural food! But I also love brownies, cookies, wine, pasta, bread, cake. Is it possible to give these items up? Not sure at the moment. I feel that the best thing to do is focus on adding more whole fruits and veggies to your diet as you can. In time you will want to get rid of processed foods. That is my hope. I want to have a long healthy life! We do not have any real serious illness but I do have a few concerns. Last week I was told I have vitiligo which is a skinwhite patches that feel like normal condition in which there is loss of pigment (color) from areas of skin, resulting in irregular skin patches. I also have in the past taking medicine for depression and anxiety. I am also looking for alternative ways to feel happier without medicine.
There is no known cause of this skin disease but has been some mention of stress or immune issues. This has definitely pushed me closer to wanting to eat healthy and make the best choices I can for my health instead of my desires or cravings. In my posts I will be recording what I ate for the day, or what juice I have juiced, or what kind of exercising I did. Also any interesting facts I will be adding on here that may help others.
